Sun Life Dunk 4 Diabetes
November is Diabetes Awareness Month. And once again, the Celtics and Sun Life have teamed up to bring awareness to diabetes prevention through the #SunLifeDunk4Diabetes campaign. Since the campaign’s inception back in 2014, we have raised nearly $500,000 for the YMCA of Greater Boston’s diabetes education programming. In previous seasons, #SunLifeDunk4Diabetes has raised funds through a combination of dunks by Celtics players and retweets by fans. Even though there are no live games being played this November, the Celtics and Sun Life are still committed to raise money and draw awareness to diabetes prevention.
So what will the campaign look like in 2020? For every retweet of the hashtag #SunLifeDunk4Diabetes, Sun life and the Celtics will donate $21 to the YMCA of Greater Boston’s Healthy Habits for Diabetes Prevention and Management program. Why $21? According to the Centers for Disease Control. Someone is the United States is diagnosed with diabetes every 21 seconds.
Do your part and participate! Each week, fans will be encouraged to vote for their favorite dunk on Twitter. Once the winner is announced, and fans will be encouraged to retweet the graphic and use the hashtag #SunLifeDunk4Diabetes.
