BOSTON, MA – The Boston Celtics have signed forward Jaylen Brown to a contract extension, the team announced today. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“Jaylen has made tremendous strides over the last three years and has become a fantastic player for us on both ends of the court,” said Celtics President of Basketball Operations Danny Ainge. “He’s a great person and hard worker who, at 22 years old, can score and defend against the best players in the NBA. Jaylen is a true professional who did a great job accepting his role last season, and he is a major part of our championship goals.”

Brown, 22, enters his fourth NBA season with the Celtics, holding career averages of 11.2 points (46.2% FG, 35.5% 3-PT, 65.8% FT), 4.0 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 24.4 minutes over 222 career games (115 starts). The Marietta, GA native was named to the NBA’s All-Rookie Second Team in 2016-17, and has played in at least 70 games in each of his first three NBA seasons.

In 44 career postseason games (24 starts), Brown has produced 12.1 points (47.6% FG, 36.0% 3-PT), 4.0 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in 24.4 minutes. The third overall selection in the 2016 NBA Draft averaged 18.0 points on 46.6% shooting in 18 games throughout the 2018 NBA Playoffs, including eight contests with at least 20 points scored.

Brown re-joined the Celtics this preseason after being selected as a member of Team USA for the 2019 FIBA World Cup. He played in all eight of Team USA’s games, averaging 7.9 points on 45.6% shooting.
