Celtics Finalize Training Camp Roster

BOSTON – The Boston Celtics announced today that they have signed guards Tim Frazier and Rodney McGruder, and forward Christian Watford. Per team policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.

Frazier, a 6’1” guard out of Penn State University, averaged 14.9 points, a Big Ten-leading 5.4 assists and 1.6 steals per game during his senior year. He was named to the Third Team All-Big Ten and produced PSU's 18th 500-point season performance, finishing the 2013-14 campaign with 508 points. Additionally, Frazier finished the season with 182 assists, the third-most of any PSU player in a single season.

McGruder, a 6’4” guard out of Kansas State University, spent the 2013-14 season playing for Alomeromu SE Paks of the Hungarian A Division. He averaged 14.4 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists during league play, and also appeared in six games of the EuroChallenge where he averaged 12.7 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. As a junior at Kansas State, McGruder became one of only two players to start all 33 games and only one of three to play in all 33. In 2012, he was named to the Second Team All-Big 12 and the Spring 2012 Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

Watford, a 6’9” forward out of Indiana University, appeared in 37 games for the Hapoel Eilat of the Israeli Winner League during the 2013-14 season, where he averaged 9.8 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game. He shot 51.5 percent from the field and 30.6 percent from beyond the arc in that span. During his senior year, Watford was one of 50 candidates named to the Wooden Award Preseason list and finished his career ranked ninth on Indiana’s all-time scoring and rebound lists with 1,730 points and 776 rebounds, respectively.
