Key Moment

Something happened after the first quarter of Sunday’s meeting between Boston and Orlando.

The Magic woke up.

Orlando looked lackadaisical and lost during the first period. Boston, to its credit, took advantage.

The Celtics made the Magic pay at both ends of the court, opening up a 14-point lead after the first 12 minutes of play. Boston pulled ahead by 20 points after scoring the first six points of the second quarter over a span of just 93 seconds.

That’s when Orlando began to figure things out.

Over the course of the next two quarters, the Magic slowly but surely clawed back into the game. They played inspired basketball at both ends – much the way Boston did over the first quarter-plus – for the remainder of the night.

Boston’s lead had vanished midway through the third quarter. Victor Oladipo’s three-point play at the 4:51 mark tied things up at 59-59, marking the first moment of game in which the Magic did not trail since the score was 0-0.

The teams went back and forth for the remainder of the contest, but Orlando’s confidence was too much for Boston to overcome. The Magic made key plays down the stretch and held on for a 103-98 victory.

Key Player

Brandon Bass had a pretty good game Sunday night in Orlando, didn’t he?

See for yourself.

Bass set a new career high by grabbing 17 rebounds against the Magic. Ten of those boards were grabbed at the offensive end of the court.

The power forward also gave major contributions in the scoring column. Bass scored 19 points on the night by making nine of his 14 field goal attempts. He even showed off his developing 3-point skills by nailing his lone attempt of the night, from the right corner of the court.

Bass also tied his career high with five assists on the night during his 38 minutes of playing time.

They flexed on us. We didn't match it. That's the best way I can describe it.
