Mission Statement:
The mission of the Boston Celtics internship program is to educate its participants in all aspects of operating a professional sports organization. Through observation and practical experience, interns learn how to function in a professional environment that requires a high energy level, the ability to perform under pressure and the utilization of essential time management skills. Through these developments, the Boston Celtics strive to successfully prepare their interns to compete for positions in the professional sports industry.

The Boston Celtics accept interns in the Marketing, Sales, Community Relations, Media Relations, Operations and Basketball Operations departments each semester. (Fall - September through December, Spring - January through May, Summer - May through August).

To qualify for an internship position with the Boston Celtics, all participants MUST be enrolled in a degree program, undergraduate (Junior or Senior year only) or graduate. Each candidate MUST be eligible to receive course credit toward their degree for the successful completion of such internship. All internships are non-compensated.

All candidates are required to have excellent communications and organizational skills, great computer skills as well as a serious interest in the field of the internship for which you would like to be considered.

Applicants for the Boston Celtics internship position must be hard working, dedicated, self-motivated individuals who can function productively in a challenging environment. Prior experience in sports is preferred, but not required. In addition to working the full 40 hour workweek, interns are required to work all home games. Interns are required to work 40 hour workweeks.

Sales and Marketing Operations

- Assist the organization in growing, monetizing and segmenting its customer database; conduct research on fan base to better understand needs of core customer segments and identify best practices in email end internet marketing; incorporate findings into organization's outbound communication strategy. Candidates must have experience conducting rigorous quantitative analysis. Candidates must be very experienced with handling large amounts of data in Excel or Access. Experience with multivariate regression modeling and CRM systems are preferred. Candidates pursuing graduate degrees in business and/or candidates with industry experience in management consulting, database marketing, statistics or investment banking are preferred.

Marketing - Experience in marketing, promotions and event management. Will assist with coordinating game operations, half-time entertainment, game-night giveaways, in-game entertainment. Responsible for assisting with some administrative duties.

Corporate Sales/Business Development - MBA candidate or undergraduate working toward BS in marketing or finance preferred. Provide marketing support to Corporate Sales and Business Development staff in the creation of sales tools to support sponsorship sales efforts. Develop market research, database marketing and sales forecasting tools. Support game-night sponsorship activities.

Sponsorship Sales & Service - Assist with creating and preparing sales presentations. Create and maintain material directory. Update and maintain collateral tracking system for sponsor programs and sponsor review books. Assist with game-night sponsor hospitality events and promotions and other game night sponsor needs. Assist with sponsor communication regarding ad materials, specs and logos. Update and post sponsor content on Assist and monitor execution of in-arena sponsored elements. Maintain and manager sponsor storage areas.

Sales - Assist and support account executives with day to day activities and game night duties. Prospect new leads for group sales via the internet. Utilize ticketing system and database to assist in incoming calls and inquiries. Coordinate mailings designated by sales staff and management. Process payments and ticket requests from existing clients. Assist with any season ticket holder and ticketing events. Support Sales and Marketing department on game nights.

Ticket Operations - Resolve and answer all client concerns or issues relating to their account. Provide operational support relating to all season and group ticket accounts. Maintain computerized records of all season and group accounts. Assist with ticket promotions, community events as well as other special events as requested.

Media Relations - Assist staff with all duties and responsibilities relating to media relations. Assist in the dissemination of media information and utilize any writing skills to enhance and aid the publications and website. Must be ready to assist with any other duties assigned as needed.

Community Relations - Manage and track all charitable donations. Help to manage various programs such as Stay in School, Read to Achieve, community ticket programs. Handle incoming inquiries for department. Specific skills preferred - experience with non-profits organizations. Comfortable working with and managing children/young adults.

Internet Operations

- Assist in publishing in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment. is the official website of the Boston Celtics and is continuously updated with the latest news, features, videos, scores, results and information about the team. Experience with HTML publishing is required. Exposure to CSS, JavaScript, Adobe Photoshop, Flash and video editing are a plus.

Statistics - Design and execute statistical analysis. Gather and format data, decide analysis approach, execute analysis, interpret results. Degree or Candidate for Degree in Statistics or other Major with focus on statistical analysis such as Econometrics. Must have track record in executing successful statistical analysis projects.
