WJYD 107.1 FM Joins Cleveland Cavaliers AudioVerse as Columbus Affiliate for 2022-23 Season

CLEVELAND, OH—The NBA Cleveland Cavaliers have reached an agreement with radio station WJYD 107.1 FM, owned by Urban One, to become the new Cavaliers AudioVerse affiliate in Columbus, Ohio beginning in the 2022-23 season.  Known as JOY 107.1, the inspirational format WJYD becomes the 31st station in the Cavaliers AudioVerse that will broadcast all 82 regular season games, four preseason games and all potential NBA playoff games live. 

The station will begin broadcast tonight with the Cavs first preseason game vs. the Philadelphia 76ers at 7:00 p.m.

“We are thrilled to join the Cavaliers Audioverse in bringing the NBA and the Cleveland Cavaliers to its fans here in Columbus and throughout Central Ohio,” said Kimberly Kyle, VP/GM Urban One Columbus.

Cavs fans in Columbus will enjoy complete coverage before, during and after every game. In his fourth season, play-by-play announcer Tim Alcorn is joined in the booth by Cavalier Legend Jim Chones, who is  back for his 13th season as color analyst. Returning for his 31st year is studio host Mike Snyder, who anchors all pregame, halftime and postgame shows. Former OSU great and NBA player Brad Sellers is back for his 12th year as postgame studio analyst. 

Each broadcast on the Cavaliers AudioVerse begins with the Huntington Tip-Off Show, an inside look at the upcoming game. Hosted by Mike Snyder, the show airs 30 minutes prior to game time. It is a comprehensive look at what is happening around the NBA, including interviews, highlights, game reports, injury updates and a preview of the Cavs game with Tim Alcorn while Jim Chones provides his “Keys to the Game.”

Following each game Mike Snyder hosts the Zoom Postgame Show. Jim Chones and Brad Sellers join Snyder to provide postgame analysis, review stats and highlights, and fans will hear comments from players in both locker rooms, Coach Bickerstaff’s postgame press conference and news from other games around the league.  

“Fans in the Columbus region are a very important part of our Cavs Ohio family, and we are thrilled that they will have the opportunity to tune into WJYD for what will be a very fun and exciting season,” said Cavs VP of Broadcasting Dave Dombrowski.

The flagship stations for Cavs basketball are the 50,000-watt News Radio WTAM 1100 AM and 106.9 FM and 100.7 FM WMMS, Cleveland’s Rock Station.
