Cleveland Cavaliers Guard Max Strus and The Andrew Weishar Foundation Welcome New Cleveland Clinic Patients to the Weish4Ever Foundation

Weish4Ever Foundation and Ambassador Strus Surprise Four Cleveland Clinic Beneficiaries with a Total of $20,000

Cleveland, OH – Cleveland Cavaliers Guard Max Strus and The Andrew Weishar Foundation (Weish4Ever) welcome four new Cleveland Clinic patients as Weish4Ever beneficiaries with a $5,000 grant for each individual. Weish4Ever provides direct and immediate financial assistance to families with adolescents or young adults (AYA, ages 15-39 years) fighting cancer and finding themselves in financial distress. Strus has been an ambassador of Weish4Ever since its inception in early 2013.

“I am always grateful for the opportunity to use my platform for good and advance the impact of the dedicated and generous Andrew Weishar Foundation,” said Max Strus, Cleveland Cavaliers Guard and Foundation Ambassador. “Cleveland has quickly become my home, and getting to bring the foundation and all the work they do to Cleveland makes today that much more special.”

As an ambassador for Weish4Ever, Strus has always found a way to “pay it forward” to the foundation and to those it serves. For the past two years, Strus has run a youth basketball camp at his Alma Mater, Stagg High School, donating all of the proceeds to The Andrew Weishar Foundation. His camps have donated over $45,000 to the foundation to continue welcoming new families battling cancer.

"We are blessed to be able to do the work that we do in honoring not only Andrew's legacy but all 540 beneficiaries we have welcomed during our 11 years as a foundation,” said Maggie Sommer, Weish4Ever Executive Program Director. “We are truly humbled to be able to pay it forward with The Cleveland Clinic, The Cavs, and Max Strus. Strus is truly the perfect person to represent everything the foundation stands for and we could not be more thrilled that he has brought Weish4Ever to Cleveland. These four beneficiaries will be a part of the Weish4Ever family forever and we look forward to supporting them all throughout their journeys."

The Foundation’s goal is to bring a bit of joy to the beneficiaries' family, let them know they are not alone in their fight and provide relief from the financial burden that cancer brings. The Weish4Ever Foundation operates across the United States with a focus on Chicagoland and the Midwest. In the past 10 years, the Foundation has welcomed more than 530 beneficiary families, granting nearly $3 million.
