Cleveland, OH – Cavs Academy, the official youth basketball program of the Cleveland Cavaliers, today announced the 2024 summer tour schedule. Registration is now open for all Cavs Academy summer camps at CavsYouth.com/basketball.
From June to August, Cavs Academy offers camps focused on the FUNdamentals of basketball, physical fitness and sportsmanship for ages 4 – 14. The Monday to Thursday programs are designed with dynamic warm-ups, skills and drills training and gameplay that engage and empower young athletes, catering to individuals of all skill levels from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Cavs Academy utilizes the game of basketball as a vehicle to impact youth and develop the skills of young athletes. Camps are open to boys and girls ages 8-14, regardless of current skill level, and participants will receive a jersey and shorts and two (2) tickets to a select fall 2024 Cavs home game. All camps are 9 to 12 p.m., Monday to Thursday, unless otherwise specified. The three-hour sessions will include:
- Dynamic stretching and warm-ups to ensure players are prepared for the day’s skills and drills.
- Individual stations to reinforce fundamental skills such as ball handling, defense and agility.
- Individual shooting stations to improve lay-ups, free throws and bank shots.
- 3v3 and 5v5 gameplay
- Fun shooting competitions
In addition to their traditional summer camps, Cavs Academy is offering two new programs this summer: E-sports and Cavalittles Camps.
Cavs Academy E-Sports Camps combine your athlete’s love for gaming with physical fitness and basketball skills training. Camps include a t-shirt and two (2) tickets to a select fall 2024 Cavs home game. All E-sports camps are 1 p.m. – 4 p.m., Monday – Thursday. E-Sports camps are three hours in length, with 90 minutes dedicated to gaming and 90 minutes dedicated to physical fitness and basketball skills training. Activities include:
- Training with our team of Cavs Academy E-Sport coaches, comprised of local E-Sport student-athletes
- Training and competitions in games such as NBA 2k, Fortnite, League of Legends, Mario Kart, Rocket League and more
- Outdoor fitness training with Cavs Academy coaches at nearby green spaces and/or Edgewater beach
- Basketball fundamental skills training with Cavs Academy coaches focusing on ball handling, dribbling and shooting
Cavalittles Camps are for our littlest ballers. All camps include a t-shirt and two (2) tickets to a select fall 2024 Cavs home game. Camps are designed to keep young athletes engaged and active. All Cavalittles camps are 9 a.m. – 11 a.m., Monday – Thursday unless otherwise specified. Cavalittles camps include the following:
- Daily basketball training introducing the FUNdamentals of basketball skills such as passing, catching and dribbling
- Engaging physical activities based on the development of balance, hand-eye coordination and bilateral movements
- Creative stimulation through arts and crafts and activity time
- Integration of kid-friendly yoga and mindfulness moments
- Focus on teamwork, collaboration, and problem-solving
