As the 2019-20 NBA season approaches, the Cleveland Cavaliers are preparing to celebrate their 50th anniversary as a franchise.

And as a result, fans will be able to receive several retro-themed promotional giveaways throughout the upcoming campaign.

On Thursday, the Cavs' official Twitter account revealed the throwback themed items that will be included as a part of their 2019-20 promotional calendar. The first giveaway will take place when Cleveland hosts the Orlando Magic on Nov. 27, with fans in attendance receiving a Nick Mileti Cavalier hat to celebrate the franchise's "Early Years" (1970-83).

The following week, fans in attendance for the Cavs' Dec. 3 matchup will receive the team's first bobblehead giveaway of the season with Austin Carr having been voted to represent the franchise's first era.

The 2018-19 season was Kevin Love’s worst as a Cavalier, a confluence of injury, apathy, and a franchise reboot. Much of that was to be expected; most players, even stars, tend not to do their best work on teams going nowhere. Cleveland didn’t have much to play for, and after starting their season 2–14, there wasn’t a rush for Love (who underwent toe surgery last November) to return or to even play well. So Love took his time, as he should, played below his standard as he worked his way back, and still made the Cavs dramatically better when he was on the floor.

There’s no reason to expect that Love would shoot so poorly (38.5% from the field) again—particularly if healthy and given any reason to compete. Ultimately, this is still a star forward with a lot left to offer. Love is the rare stretch four that costs a team nothing in terms of rebounding.

While playing on a surgically repaired foot last season, Love still posted a rebound rate that would have ranked in the top five. Even more important: Love is more than just an endpoint shooter. - CLICK HERE to read full story.

Goodbye, Fred (For Now)

Man, Freddy Mac lost and/or misplaced everything!

When you travel with a team for seven or eight months out of the year, you become like family. You know each other’s traits and habits.

And after over a dozen years on the road with Fred, everyone knew that he misplaced everything. Laptops, iPads, travel bags -- everything. And that he didn’t like seafood and that he sometimes lost his cool on the golf course.

And we also knew that nobody had a bigger heart or more passion than Fred. Nobody worked harder or was a better, more consistent pro.

On a late-night flight in the middle of long road trip, while the rest of the Cavs family was crashed out or binge-watching “Breaking Bad,” Freddy Mac would be going through clips, hi-lighting a story about Buddy Hield in the Sacramento Bee. When the family – including players – went grumbling into the United Center for morning shootaround on a cold December day, Fred – well-coiffed as always – would be wide-awake and ready to rumble.
