In addition to providing children of all abilities with the opportunity to play basketball, the Cavaliers are also teaching children the importance of overall wellness, including being active everyday and eating a well-balanced diet.
Fit As A Pro is year-round campaign designed to encourage physical fitness and well-balanced nutrition among elementary and middle school students in Northeast Ohio. The program reaches thousands of students in Northeast Ohio through fitness activities, nutrition education and information on how to maintain an overall healthy lifestyle.
The Cavaliers, in partnership with the National Basketball Academy, impact the lives of more than 1,000 young athletes across Northeast Ohio at various Camps and Clinics throughout the year. In addition to the ever popular Summer Camps, the Youth Sports programs hosts NEOEA Day Clinics, Holiday Clinics, Moondog Mini Dribblers program and private Cavs Youth Training Sessions.
Established in 1992, the Cleveland Wheelchair Cavaliers partners with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Cleveland Clinic and Invacare Top End to compete on a national level as part of the National Wheelchair Basketball Association. The team is comprised of residents from throughout Northeast Ohio. In 2010, the Cleveland Wheelchair Cavaliers won the National Wheelchair Basketball Association Division 3 National Championship.
The Cleveland Wheelchair Cavaliers mission is to make a difference in the community by helping educate and provide opportunities to children and newly injured adults with disabilities.
The Cleveland Wheelchair Cavaliers accomplish their mission by building awareness through various outreach efforts in the community including halftime appearances, speaking at schools/community organizations, performing demonstrations, competing at the highest level and continue bringing championships to the Cavaliers organization and the people of Greater Cleveland.
