After a three-day break with no games, the Cavs are back in action tonight against the Orlando Magic. Both the Cavs and Magic finished the In-Season Tournament with a 3-1 record but did not advance based on point differential.

The Cavs dug deep for a win against the Pistons in Detroit on Saturday night, winning 110-101. Max Strus and Darius Garland each scored 22 points to lead the Cavs in the victory.

The Cavs are on the road for a quick one game, taking on the Detroit Pistons. This is the second meeting between the Central Division rivals this season, with the Cavs winning the first in Cleveland in November.

Cleveland had a slow second half, leading to the Trail Blazers taking control and grabbing the win on Thursday night. Donovan Mitchell scored 23 points on just seven made shots. Jarrett Allen doubled-up in the loss.

Cavs at Pistons | Rocket Mortgage Game Preview

CLEVELAND-&nbsp;The Cleveland Cavaliers and&nbsp;Rhymes with Reason, the educational platform designed to help students build literacy and vocabulary skills through popular music, have launched the innovative technology program at the first of four Northeast Ohio schools and after school programs. Started in 2017 by Austin Martin, Rhymes with Reason is designed to build confidence by ensuring academic excellence is within reach through today’s most popular music. On Nov. 29, Rhymes with Reason was introduced at Cleveland’s E Prep Cliffs, with an assist from Cavs in-arena host Ahmaad Crump, DJ Steph Floss and special guest Cavs small forward George Niang.&nbsp;

During the presentation, Martin and E Prep Cliffs’ Principal Marc Johnson introduced the program tool, which takes the students through a variety of exercises to highlight lyrics and new words from popular song lyrics. The two were then joined by Niang, who helped the students create their own song lyrics with their newly learned words. 

The National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) recently published a study showing that Cleveland’s 8th graders had the most significant post-pandemic reading decline of 26 measured major U.S. cities. This ranking made Cleveland as a priority city for Rhymes with Reason to introduce its program.&nbsp;

This initiative aligns perfectly with our mission of centering joy and curiosity to cultivate a community of learning where all students thrive,” said&nbsp;Andrew McRae, CEO of Breakthrough Public Schools.&nbsp;“Rhymes with Reason provides educational technology that will engage and inspire our scholars, enabling us to continue empowering them and enhancing their educational capabilities through music they love,” expressed&nbsp;Marc Johnson, Principal of E Prep Cliffs.

In partnership with the Cavs, Rhymes with Reason plans to reach 250 6th&nbsp;– 10th&nbsp;students in Northeast Ohio Cleveland’s E Prep Cliffs school, Kenneth W. Clement Boys Leadership Academy and through the Boys and Girls Club of Northeast Ohio.

“We are constantly looking for ways to help make a positive impact on youth literacy rates in Northeast&nbsp;Ohio,”&nbsp;said&nbsp;Director of Community Engagement and Events Celena Zevnik, “Rhymes with Reason offers a unique approach to learning vocabulary and literacy skills in a fun and engaging way for students.&nbsp;

The Cleveland Cavaliers serve the educational needs of children through literacy and scholarship. Rhymes with Reason will join other Cavs educational programs that include Score with Reading, Mobile Book Fair, Math Hoops and Head of Class.

Cavaliers Launch “Rhymes with Reason” Program at Cleveland's E Prep Cliffs, New Educational Technology Program Helps Students Build Literacy Through Popular Music

In celebration of community and basketball, the Cleveland Cavaliers, Cleveland-Cliffs and Cavs point guard Darius Garland welcomed members of the Boys & Girls Club of Northeast Ohio’s   Keystone and Torch Clubs to Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse for their season-long commitment to the Bigger Than Basketball Leaders program. Students were provided with Cavs giveaway items to help show off their Bigger Than Basketball pride. Representatives from each organization spoke to the participating students about the importance of philanthropy and leadership. 

After hearing from all three partner organizations, surprise guest&nbsp;Darius Garland&nbsp;spoke about his personal leadership journey and visited each group of students to learn more about their ongoing community projects.&nbsp;

“Leadership as a basketball player is picking people up, encouraging your peers and leading by example”,&nbsp;said Garland.&nbsp;“Leadership is something that I had to learn and something that I am working on every day. I have learned leadership from my teammates and by finding the right mentors throughout my career.”&nbsp;

The Bigger Than Basketball, launched in the 2022-2023 season, focuses on providing resources for underserved youth in the Northeast Ohio community by teaming up with local agencies to help identify specific needs, such as clothing, food security and recreation.

&nbsp;“One of the best parts of being a lead sponsor of the Cleveland Cavaliers, in addition to supporting a winning team, is our engagement in the Bigger than Basketball partnership,” said&nbsp;Patrick Bloom, Vice President of Government Relations at Cleveland-Cliffs.&nbsp;“This three-way partnership embodies the shared values of Cleveland-Cliffs, the Cavs and stands to support the incredible work of the Boys and Girls Club of Northeast Ohio.”&nbsp;

The leadership of the Keystone and Torch members Is an inspiration.”

This year’s students were asked to create, develop and execute a community-focused group project that supports the values that the Boys and Girls Club of Northeast Ohio works to uphold. The student-led groups are tasked with designing initiatives that best nurture hope, foster inclusivity, and build bridges within their community. 

The Cavaliers Community Foundation announced that each club that participates in the Bigger Than Basketball program will be eligible to submit their spring project to be paid for by the Cavaliers Community Foundation as well as assistance in planning and execution of the winning submission.

Cleveland Cavaliers and Cavs Player Darius Garland Celebrate Young Leaders with the Bigger Than Basketball Program presented by Cleveland-Cliffs

Cleveland's early-season home stand wraps-up tonight against the Portland Trail Blazers. The Cavs and Blazers met just about two weeks ago in Portland, with the Wine & Gold taking the 109-95 win.

The Cavs ended group play on a high note, topping the Hawks by 20 on Tuesday, but were unable to advance in the In-Season Tournament based on point differential. Donovan Mitchell went off for a game-high 40 points. Six other Cavaliers were in double figures on the night.

The Chase Down Pod presented by fubo - Point Differential Theater

The Cleveland Cavaliers announced today their two remaining 2023-24 regular season games following the end of the inaugural NBA In-Season Tournament group play games. The Cavaliers finished with a 3-1 record (2nd place in East Group A), following wins over Detroit, Philadelphia, and Atlanta. The one loss came at Indiana on Nov. 3rd.

Cleveland will now host the Orlando Magic on Wednesday, December 6th&nbsp;at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse at 7:00 PM and then travel to Miami to take on the Heat on Friday, December 8th&nbsp;at 8:00 PM to round out the full 82-game regular season slate.

Prior to next week’s games, the Cavaliers will first take on the Portland Trail Blazers at home tomorrow (Nov. 30) at 7:00 PM and visit the Detroit Pistons this Saturday (Dec. 2) at 7:00 PM.
