Bulls forward Chandler Hutchison will undergo arthroscopic surgery on Tuesday, March 17, to treat the acromioclavicular joint injury of his right shoulder. He originally sustained the injury on Nov. 27 after a direct blow in the game at the Golden State Warriors. Hutchison then reinjured his right shoulder in the game at the Washington Wizards on Feb. 11. He has continued to experience acromioclavicular joint pain despite undergoing a four-week period of prescribed rest and therapy, and surgery is deemed the appropriate course of action. The projected recovery time is 12-16 weeks.

Chicago Bulls guard Kris Dunn injured his right knee in the first quarter of Friday night's game at the Brooklyn Nets. He underwent an MRI and clinical exam at Rush Hospital on Saturday, Feb. 1 which confirmed the initial diagnosis of a medial collateral ligament sprain.

Dunn will be reexamined following an initial two-week phase of immobilization and physical therapy. The definitive treatment and timetable will be determined over that time frame as symptoms improve.

Chicago Bulls forward Lauri Markkanen underwent an MRI of his right hip at Rush Hospital on Jan. 23 which revealed an early stress reaction of his right pelvis. Following a period of rest, Markkanen will resume basketball related activities with a full return anticipated in 4-6 weeks.

Bulls forward Chandler Hutchison sustained an acute injury to a sesamoid bone in his right foot in the game vs. Atlanta on Jan. 23. He will be placed in a walking boot for 2-4 weeks, and will be re-examined after the All-Star Break.

Hutchison, the 22nd-overall selection in the 2018 NBA Draft, has played in 44 games (14 starts) for Chicago this season with averages of 5.2 points and 4.2 rebounds in 20.3 minutes per game.

Wendell Carter Jr. sustained a left thumb injury in the game at the Los Angeles Lakers on Jan. 15. A MRI was performed the next day in Los Angeles, with the initial diagnosis of an acute on chronic thumb sprain. He was examined today by Bulls hand specialists, Drs. John Fernandez and Mark Cohen. Repeat physical examination, testing under live fluoroscopic XR, and review of all tests determined the extent of the thumb injury and associated instability. Surgery is recommended with an anticipated recovery and return to sport time of 8-12 weeks.

Zach LaVine injured his left ankle in the fourth quarter of the Bulls game against the Orlando Magic in Mexico City on Dec. 13. Additional opinions concurred with the original diagnosis of a medial ankle sprain. LaVine will be out approximately two-to-four weeks from the date of the injury.

The Chicago Bulls announced today that guard Denzel Valentine has been diagnosed with ongoing ankle instability. After being evaluated by Dr. Bob Anderson, a foot and ankle specialist in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Valentine will undergo a surgical reconstruction by Dr. Anderson the week of Nov. 26 with an anticipated recovery time of four-to-six months. He is expected to make a full recovery and have a normal summer of offseason training leading into training camp for the 2019-20 season.

DENZEL VALENTINE INJURY UPDATE

April 3, 2018 - Bulls guard Denzel Valentine will have an arthroscopic debridement on his left knee tomorrow morning.  Valentine had an MRI yesterday after experiencing swelling in his knee.  The results of his MRI presented a surgical option for treatment.  He will not play against Charlotte tonight and will miss the rest of the season.

On the year, he appeared in 77 games (37 starts) and averaged 10.2 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.2 assists in 27.2 minutes.  He also posted shooting averages of .417 from the field, .386 from downtown and .745 from the line.
