Comcast SportsNet and Bulls announce free live online game streaming
Free trial of Bulls online streaming to include every Comcast SportsNet regular season and playoff game this season; first online streamed game to take place on March 19 vs. Cleveland
Chicago, IL (March 8, 2010) – Comcast SportsNet, the television home for the most comprehensive local sports coverage, and the Chicago Bulls today announced a new outlet for Comcast SportsNet viewers to watch the Bulls on CSNChicago.com. Comcast SportsNet’s new live online game streaming gives Bulls fans who receive Comcast SportsNet a new way to watch the team with added convenience and portability. Today’s announcement was made by James J. Corno, President of Comcast SportsNet Chicago and Steve Schanwald, Chicago Bulls Executive Vice President-Business Operations & Alternate NBA Governor.
Beginning Friday, March 19 at 7:00 PM, eligible Bulls fans (subscribers to a participating TV service that carries Comcast SportsNet Chicago within the Bulls’ television territory), can watch CSNChicago.com’s live Bulls coverage on personal or portable computers in high-definition (HD) on a free trial basis for the remainder of the 2009-10 regular season (six total games). Plus, fans will also receive free online streaming for every Comcast SportsNet Bulls playoff game telecast (NOTE: Comcast SportsNet airs first round Bulls/NBA Playoff games). CSNChicago.com’s online coverage of Bulls game telecasts will feature the same Comcast SportsNet announcing team of Neil Funk and Stacey King.
“After several weeks of testing, Comcast SportsNet is pleased to give our viewers the option to watch our Bulls coverage with online portability in addition to our traditional television coverage,” said Corno. “Streaming our Bulls coverage gives our viewers more convenience than ever before.”
“This represents the next logical step forward in the inevitable convergence of TV and the Internet,” added Schanwald. “We are pleased and honored to be working with Comcast SportsNet Chicago on this venture and to be among the first teams in professional sports to offer this opportunity to its fans.”
To be eligible, viewers must receive Comcast SportsNet Chicago from a TV provider that has agreed to participate in the network’s authentication process. To view Bulls games on CSNChicago.com, consumers will log onto CSNChicago.com and register their name, e-mail address and the name of their cable provider and then create a user name and password to begin viewing the game telecasts. More information can be found at CSNChicago.com.
In addition to online game coverage in HD, online viewers will have the ability to pause, rewind and fast forward the game and enjoy social media features including Facebook and Twitter applications, as well as a live “chat” forum featuring Comcast SportsNet’s Bulls studio tandem Mark Schanowski and Kendall Gill, along with CSNChicago.com Bulls “Insider” Aggrey Sam.
