Bulls in the preseason

The Bulls (1-0) continue preseason play with the second of seven preseason games against Cleveland in Champaign, Ill. Chicago is 190-174 (.522) all-time in preseason play. The Bulls have won five straight preseason games with the most recent defeat coming on 10/16/10 at ORL.

Last year, Chicago posted a 2-0 record, which marked the sixth consecutive year the team finished the preseason with a record of .500 or better. The last time that happened in preseason play was in 1996-97, when the team ran off 10 straight preseason circuits with a record of .500 or better. Chicago has gone undefeated three times in the preseason, first in 1989-90 (8-0), 1992-93 (9-0) and 2011-12 (2-0).

Off and running

The Bulls scored 32 fast break points in their 92-88 victory over Memphis on Tuesday, a total surpassed only twice by the Bulls during the 2011-12 regular season. Chicago notched 33 fast break points twice in the first five games of 2011-12 (at SAC on 12/29/11, vs. MEM on 1/01/12), but did not score 30-or-more fast break points in any of the final 61 games of the season. Of the Bulls’ 32 fast break points against the Grizzlies, 12 came during a 21-2 run to open the second half that turned a 52-49 halftime deficit into a 70-54 lead less than halfway into the third quarter.
