The Chicago Bulls have signed free agents Perrion Callandret, Milton Doyle and Justin Simon to round out their 2019-20 training camp roster. In accordance with team policy, terms of the contracts were not announced.
Callandret (6-2, 180) played in four games on the Bulls' 2019 MGM Resorts NBA Summer League team, averaging 2.3 points per game. Prior to his Summer League experience, Callandret played five seasons at Idaho from 2013-18 after qualifying for a medical redshirt in the 2016-17 season due to a knee injury. Overall, he appeared in 113 games (48 starts) for the Vandals with career averages of 8.0 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game. As a junior, Callandret averaged 14.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game, scoring in double-figures in 17 contests. A native of Bothell, Wash., Callandret sustained a season-ending injury just two games into his senior campaign. He appeared in 27 games (21 starts) in his redshirt senior season (2017-2018), shooting .440 from the floor and .407 from behind the arc.
Doyle (6-4, 180) returns to the NBA after spending the 2018-19 season with UCAM Murcia in Liga ACB (Spain), where he averaged 11.1 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 23.0 minutes per game. Prior to playing overseas, Doyle saw time in a 10-game stint with the Brooklyn Nets in 2017-18. He averaged 3.4 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.0 assists in the NBA while also spending time with the Long Island Nets of the G League. With Long Island, Doyle averaged 20.5 points, 6.2 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game and was named to the G League All-Star Game. A Chicago native, Doyle became the first player in Loyola University Chicago's program history to be named First Team All-Missouri Valley Conference in his senior season (2016-17).
Simon (6-5, 215) played in five games on the Bulls' 2019 MGM Resorts NBA Summer League team and averaged 6.8 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.40 steals per game. Prior to his Summer League experience, Simon played a combined three seasons at Arizona and St. John's University (2015-19) where he averaged 8.9 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.53 steals per contest in 91 games (66 starts) while shooting .470 from the field and .351 from three. After transferring from Arizona to St. John's following his freshman campaign, the Los Angeles native's averages in points (11.3), rebounds (6.1), assists (4.1) and steals (1.97) across his two years in Queens, NY, were among team highs and his 132 total steals over that span ranked in the top 20 nationally. His collegiate career was capped off by helping the Johnnies reach the NCAA Tournament for the first time in five years on his way to being named 2018-19 BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year.
The Bulls will open training camp with Media Day at the Advocate Center on Sept. 30.
