Bucks Sign Kenyon Martin to a 10-Day Contract

Team requests waivers on Nate Wolters

The Milwaukee Bucks have signed forward/center Kenyon Martin to a 10-day contract, General Manager John Hammond announced today. Martin is a 14-year NBA veteran who has appeared in 746 games (667 starts) with New Jersey, Denver, the Los Angeles Clippers and New York Knicks. To make room on the roster, the Bucks requested waivers on guard Nate Wolters.

“Kenyon provides some needed depth to our front court and brings an additional veteran presence to help develop our young team,” said Hammond. “He has always been known for his tough-minded, physical approach to the game and we’re excited to welcome him to the Milwaukee Bucks.”

Martin was the first overall pick by the New Jersey Nets in the 2000 NBA Draft. He was a teammate with Bucks Head Coach Jason Kidd with the Nets from 2001 – 2004 and again with the Knicks for the 2012-13 campaign. Martin owns career averages of 12.5 points, 6.9 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.2 blocked shots per game. His best statistical season came in 2003-04 when he averaged a career-best 16.7 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists and earned a spot as an Eastern Conference All-Star. He last played for the Knicks (32 games) in 2013-14.

The Cincinnati alum has participated in the postseason 11 times with 112 games (88 starts) played. Martin’s playoff averages are 12.9 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game.

In 11 games for the Bucks this season, Wolters averaged 2.3 points and 1.5 rebounds in 12.9 minutes per game. In 69 career NBA games, he has averaged 6.4 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.9 assists.

“We appreciate everything Nate gave to the Bucks both on and off the court,” said Hammond. “We know we will see him again in the NBA and wish him well in the future.”

Wolters was the 38th overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft by the Washington Wizards. He was acquired by the Bucks from Philadelphia for the draft rights to Ricky Ledo (43rd overall pick) and a future second round draft pick.
