Nurkić Fever Spreads Overseas as Bosnian Band Pens Tribute

by Cody Sharrett

From Moda Center PA announcer Mark Mason introducing him in his native Bosnian every night to fans bringing Bosnia and Herzegovina flags to games, Rip City was welcomed midseason acquisition Jusuf Nurkić with open arms. The center's 15.2 points and 10.4 rebounds per game -- highlighted historic performances of 28 points, 20 rebounds, eight assists and six blocks versus Philadelphia and career-high 33 points over his former team the Denver Nuggets -- has sparked 'Nurkić Fever' throughout the month of March.

Per his request, Bosnian band Dubioza Kolektiv's 'Euro Song' rings out on the Moda Center speakers every time Nurkić scores a basket. Following Thursday's win over Houston, Dubioza Kolektiv returned the favor, penning 'Bosnian Beast from the Wild Wild East' as a tribute to the Blazers center to share on their Facebook page

Some sample lyrics:

"He can assist, he can score

in the box he's amazing.

Nurk is on fire,

Nurk is trail blazing."
