Nate Tibbetts

Associate Head Coach

Nate Tibbetts completed his first season as Associate Head Coach in 2019-20 after serving the previous six seasons as an assistant coach for Portland. Tibbetts was as an assistant coach for the Cleveland Cavaliers from 2011-13 before joining the Trail Blazers. Prior to his tenure with the Cavs, Tibbetts served as head coach of the NBA Development League’s Tulsa 66ers for two seasons. He guided the Oklahoma City Thunder’s D-League affiliate to a 64-41 (.610) record and two trips to the playoffs during his time there. Tibbetts was selected to lead the West Team in the 2011 D-League All-Star Game after guiding Tulsa to a conference-best 24-10 record heading into the break. He was also selected to be the United States head coach in the 2011 Pan American Games, where he led the group of D-League players to a bronze medal, USA’s first medal since 1999. Tibbetts was a member of the D-League’s Sioux Falls Skyforce coaching staff for four seasons from 2005-09 and was promoted to head coach after his first two campaigns. A former University of South Dakota standout who ranks second all-time in career assists (678) and steals (215) at the school, he was an assistant coach at the University of Sioux Falls from 2001-05. Tibbetts and his wife, Lyndsey, reside in Portland with their daughters Jordyn and Londyn.
