Matt Whinrey begins his fourth season as the Trail Blazers Advance Scout in 2020-21 after spending the previous four seasons with the New Orleans Pelicans. In New Orleans, Whinrey was the assistant video coordinator for one season before being promoted to head video coordinator for his final three seasons. Prior to joining the Pelicans, Whinrey was an NBA regional scout and basketball operations assistant for the Cleveland Cavaliers. A native of Avon, Indiana, Whinrey graduated with a degree in math and psychology from IUPUI where he worked as a student assistant coach before being named an assistant coach from 2010-12.
