Bulls executive John Paxson says jobs safe despite lackluster season

Long-time Bulls executive Bulls executive John Paxson says the team plans to stand pat despite its disappointing 9-18 record entering Saturday’s home game against the Clippers.

“I take responsibility for where we’re at,’’ said Paxson told the Chicago Sun-Times as part of a series of interviews with select media outlets. “I always will.’’

Paxson specifically said there were no plans to fire second-year coach Jim Boylen or make any major personnel moves.

“Look, there is no quick fix to right where we’re at,’’ Paxson said. “I’ll say this again, I thought — and we all did — we would have a better record than we do right now. I do believe we have talent. It’s young and not a lot of experience, but I do believe we have talent. So we’ve underperformed in that area, but there’s no quick fix in this right now.”

The Bulls currently sit 3 games behind the Magic for the eighth and final playoff berth in the Eastern Conference. If that holds over the remaining 50-plus games, the Bulls will miss the postseason for the third straight season and fourth time over the past five.
