3 NBA things to know for Dec. 5

Some key storylines and NBA tidbits to know for the day ahead

1. Bigger issues afoot for Rockets

In Houston, the James Harden dunk that was overturned remains a talking point. However, they can’t afford to get too caught up in all that as a big road game looms tonight against the Raptors (7:30 ET, NBA TV). The Rockets are 2-3 this season against East teams currently in the (way-too-early) playoff picture. Toronto has looked sharp in its last eight games, boasting the NBA’s eighth-best Offensive Rating (115.6) while going 7-1 during that span.

2. Sixers hitting their stride again?

First came the 5-0 start. Then, the 2-5 swoon. Now, its an 8-1 mark as a road game with the Wizards looms (7 ET, League Pass). In short, the Sixers have been all over the map results-wise this season. But wins and losses don’t tell the full story for a Sixers team that leads the NBA in several defensive categories. The Wizards continue to stay within shouting distance of No. 8 in the East, but are 3-9 in their last 12 games and have given up 125, 150 and 127 points in their last three games.

3. The night Klay scored 60

In this space yesterday, we highlighted Stephen Curry joining a special 3-point club. Today, it’s time to spotlight his fellow “Splash Brother”, Klay Thompson, for something he did back in 2016. On this night back then, Thompson dominated the Pacers to the tune of 60 points in a mere 29 minutes, becoming the first player in league lore to net 60 or more in under 30 minutes.
