GG Jackson II Named to NBA All-Rookie Second Team

Memphis, Tenn. – The NBA today announced that Memphis Grizzlies forward GG Jackson II was named to the 2023-24 NBA All-Rookie Second Team.

Jackson II (6-9, 215) competed in 48 games (18 starts) this season and averaged 14.6 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 25.7 minutes after he was selected by the Grizzlies with the 45th overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. The youngest player in the NBA this season, the 19-year-old ranked fourth among rookies in scoring average and third after the All-Star break behind only San Antonio’s Victor Wembanyama and Charlotte’s Brandon Miller. He also ranked fourth in defensive rating (111.4) among rookies who averaged at least 24 minutes per game.

The South Carolina native averaged 20.4 points in his final 18 appearances this season, reaching double figures in every game, and recorded 37.5 points over his final two games. He set a single-game rookie franchise record with a career-high 44 points, the second-highest scoring total by a teenager in NBA history, in the regular season finale on April 14 vs. Denver.

Jackson II is the fifth Grizzlies player in the last six seasons to receive All-Rookie honors, including Jaren Jackson Jr. (First Team in 2018-19), Ja Morant and Brandon Clarke (First Team in 2019-20) and Desmond Bane (Second Team in 2021-22).
