Wizards To Begin Summer League Play Friday

WASHINGTON, DC – The Washington Wizards will begin play in the 2012 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas when they take on the Atlanta Hawks at 4:00 p.m. (ET) Friday. The game, which will be the first contest on the NBA Summer League schedule, will be broadcast locally on Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic and nationally on NBATV.

The Wizards’ entry in the 2012 NBA Summer League will be led by 2012 first round draft pick Bradley Beal and second-year players Shelvin Mack, Chris Singleton and Jan Vesely. 2012 second round selection Tomas Satoransky will also be included on the 14-man roster. Sam Cassell will serve as the team’s head coach during Summer League play.

The Wizards will play five games in six days overall while in Las Vegas, taking on the Hawks, Rockets, NBA D-League Select Team, Memphis and Milwaukee. Four of the team’s five games will be televised. Comcast SportsNet’s schedule of 2012 NBA Summer League action includes the Wizards’ opener against Atlanta on July 13 at 4:00 p.m. (7:00 p.m. encore) as well as games against Memphis on July 17 at 6:00 p.m. (8:00 p.m. encore) and Milwaukee on July 18 at 4:00 p.m. (7:00 p.m. encore) with coverage led by Comcast SportsNet’s Wizards play-by-play announcer Steve Buckhantz and analyst Phil Chenier. NBATV will televise those games in addition to the Wizards’ game against Houston on July 14 at 10:00 p.m.
