"I signed a two year contract to play," said Jordan. "Obviously, my health will always determine my playing status, but at this time, my plan is to play next season."
In October 2001 Jordan decided to end a three-year absence from basketball and signed a two-year contract with the Wizards. Since his comeback to the court, Jordan has averaged 23.3 points, 5.8 rebounds and 5.3 assists in 57 games, and has helped the Wizards win 16 more games than all of last year.
Jordan addressed the media following practice Thursday and remained adamant about his commitment to the team.
"My contract lasts for next season, and I have all intent in living out my contract. But if I physically can't, if I have to go through the same situations I've gone through this year, then it's not meaningful for me."
Jordan recently returned from arthroscopic surgery on his right knee and has seen action in all four games. Since his return, the Wizards have posted a 2-2 record.
