The last two days we have played about as good basketball as you can expect for a summer league team to play.
I think that we have really grown as a team. Our veteran players have really stepped up and our guys off the bench have really come in and contributed.
In the game against Orlando we only allowed 22 points in the first half in our 88-63 win. We only allowed three offensive rebounds and we had 17, and five players were in double figures.
Bobby Simmons has really shot the ball better and played better with each game. Against Orlando, Bobby had 22 points and he was 10-16 from the field.
Brendan Haywood has not played since the second game. He tweaked his knee a little bit and we are holding him out as a precautionary measure.
Kris Lang started for the injured Haywood Wednesday and had 14 points and eight rebounds.
Juan Dixon had 12 points against Orlando, while Etan Thomas and Jared Jeffries both had 10 points and eight rebounds.
We were really happy with everyone's play, and we basically dominated the game from start to finish. We outscored them every period and we really played well.
Thursday we played an undefeated Minnesota team who many people felt had one of the best summer league teams here in Boston. We again jumped out and had a big league at the half. We led the game 51-34 at halftime, and Doug Collins made the point after the game that he doesn’t know how anyone could have played better then our team did in the first half.
We didn’t play as well in the second half. I think because we were tired both mentally and physically from playing four days in a row after having two-a-day practices for four days.
Thomas had 15 points and 14 rebounds. Jared Jeffries had 13 points, which I think is his summer league high, Juan Dixon had 16 points and Bobby Simmons had 13. Those guys have really come together.
Jamal Robinson had a good game off the bench with his shooting. He was 3-3 from the floor and 2-2 from the free throw line for eight points.
All of our guys have played pretty well in the last 48 hours. We have given them today off to rest their bodies a little bit, and then we'll play two more games, one on Saturday afternoon and one on Sunday afternoon.
