Coming off of a tough game last night in Orlando, the Washington Wizards were unable to keep up with the well rested Toronto Raptors and fell 99-93 on the second day of a back-to-back. In the loss, Antawn Jamison led the way with a season-high 32 points.

"We have some habits we have to break," said Interim Head Coach Ed Tapscott. "We are becoming a new team. We have to start being a defensive team, a rebounding team and an efficient offensive team. There are going to be some steps forwards and some steps back. We need to remind ourselves of the basketball values that we need to win games. If we defend, if we rebound and if we execute on offense then we are able to win games, if we don't do that we are going to struggle."

With an extra day of rest, the Toronto Raptors came out strong in the first, connecting on 70% of their shots to build a 19-6 lead midway through the first quarter. Despite falling behind, the Wizards cut into the lead late in the quarter, and trailed 25-16 after the first.

"I think we tried to get into the same game as them," said Butler who added 15 points, six rebounds and six assists. "They run the floor and shoot jumpers because that is their style of play. We need to stay true to who we are. We are a scrappy team that does well when we run pick-and-rolls and play off of each other."

The second quarter saw the Raptors continue their hot shooting and jump their lead to as much as 21 points at 46-25. Despite the deficit, the Wizards fought back, responding with a 9-0 run to cut the Raptors lead back to 12 at 46-34. Leading the way in the second was Jamison who dropped in 11 points including eight of the Wizards final 13 points and a pair of steals to keep Toronto's lead at 50-38 heading into intermission.

Intermission did little to stop Washington's momentum, as the comeback attempt continued in the third with the Wizards cutting the lead to seven at 52-45. However, the Raptors answered, going on their own spurt to push the lead back into double digits at 73-60 entering the fourth quarter

The fourth quarter saw the Wizards crawl back to the closest they had been all game as Jamison stayed hot making three jumpers in four possessions to cut the Raptors lead to five at 80-75. However, as they did for most of the game, the Raptors answered and pushed the lead back to 10 with 4:47 remaining thanks in large part to Andrea Bargnani who scored 25 points on 8 of 9 shooting from the field. With the game in the balance, Washington made one final push, but despite cutting the lead back to five, the Raptors where too much down the stretch and pulled out the win. .

"It is our job to go out and play hard night in and night out," said Jamison. "During every career there always obstacles in your path, but you have to fight and that is where your character shows. We are going to continue to fight and play as hard as we can."

The Wizards will now have a day off before they return to the court on Friday when they take on the Chicago Bulls at 8:30p.m.
