NOTES Tonight’s contest is the first of two meetings between the Washington Wizards and New Orleans Hornets. The
Wizards took the season series, 2-0 last season, and have won three straight overall against the Hornets.
In the first meeting between Washington and New Orleans last season, the Wizards defeated the Hornets, 95-92
in New Orleans, on February 25th of last season, when DeShawn Stevenson nailed a three-pointer as time expired
to give Washington the victory. Stevenson scored a career-high of 33 points on 11-of-21 from the field. In
the second meeting less than a week later, the Wizards defeated New Orleans, 101-84, at Verizon Center.
Antawn Jamison led Washington with 28 points and nine rebounds in the victory.
Last Game...The Wizards defeated the Houston Rockets, 89-87, at the Toyota Center in Houston, on December
29th...The win marked the first time the Wizards have won at the Toyota Center and the first time Washington has
won in Houston since 2001...Antawn Jamison led the way with 30 points and 12 rebounds for his 17th doubledouble
on the season...Andray Blatche continues to impress in his new starting role as he filled the stat sheet with
16 points, eight rebounds and five assists...Nick Young scored 14 points on 6-of-11 from the field in his second
start of the season...Dominic McGuire was the catalyst in a stellar defensive performance by the Wizards, he had
a career-high four blocks to go along with seven rebounds and five assists...Washington held Houston to 40.0 percent
from the field in capturing their second win a row, marking the first time the Wizards have won back-to-back
games this season.
The Wizards joined the Detroit Pistons as the only two teams the Hornets failed to defeat during the 2007-08 season.
Among all NBA forwards, Antawn Jamison is 8th in scoring (20.8), second in double-doubles (17), 7th in rebounding
(9.3) and 3rd in minutes (38.6).
Given the opportunity to start, Dominic McGuire is making the most of it. The
second year forward is averaging 9.3 rebounds in the four games he has started this season. With
11 rebounds at CLE (12/25), McGuire set a season high in rebounds. The second year forward
posted a career high with 12 points vs. OKC (12/27).
Wizards forward Andray Blatche is averaging career-highs in points per game (9.7)
