Wizards Acquire Bibby, Evans, Crawford and First Round Pick

Washington Wizards President Ernie Grunfeld announced today that the team has acquired Mike Bibby, Maurice Evans, Jordan Crawford and a 2011 first round pick from the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for Kirk Hinrich and Hilton Armstrong.

“We were able to acquire a proven, clutch leader in Mike, a hard-nosed veteran in Maurice, and an intriguing prospect in Jordan, as well as a first round draft choice to add to our own first round pick this summer,” said Grunfeld. "This trade continues our plan to build with draft picks and by developing our young players while staying financially flexible."

Bibby, in his 13th season out of Arizona, owns career averages of 15.4 points and 5.7 rebounds per game in 938 games with the Vancouver Grizzlies, Sacramento Kings and Atlanta Hawks. Just 567 points away from 15,000 for his career, the 6'2" point guard is a career .379 shooter from three-point range, and he currently ranks fifth in three-point field goal this season with a career-best .441 mark (113-256). He comes to Washington just 50 three-pointers shy of the 1,500 mark for his career.

Evans, a 6-5 swingman from Texas, has played for six franchises over eight NBA seasons. This season Evans is averaging 4.5 points in 17.8 minutes per game through 47 games (12 starts) for Atlanta. A veteran of 56 career playoff games (18 starts), Evans has appeared in the NBA postseason in each of the last six seasons with five different teams.

Crawford, a rookie guard out of Xavier, was originally drafted by the New Jersey Nets with the 27th overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft before being sent to Atlanta in a draft night deal. Crawford has scored 67 points in 160 minutes in 10 games of action this season.

Hinrich departs Washington with averages of 11.1 points and 4.4 assists per game in 48 games this season as a Wizard. Hinrich was initially acquired by Washington along with Kevin Seraphin and cash from the Chicago Bulls on July 8, 2010 in exchange for the rights to Vladimir Veremeenko. Armstrong averaged 1.9 points and 2.8 rebounds in 41 games as a Wizard after signing as a free agent with Washington prior to the 2010-11 season.
