Dixon Named to Summer League Second Team
Washington Wizards guard Juan Dixon was named to Reebok Pro Summer League Second Team after averaging 18 points per game. Kwame Brown finished summer league tied for first in rebounding with 8.3 per game while rookie Steve Blake finished second in assists with 6.8 per game.
Wizards Edge Cavs
The Washington Wizards finished up the Reebok Pro Summer League strong as they defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 80-76. Juan Dixon scored a game-high 24 points, while rookie guard Steve Blake added 11, dished 10 assists and grabbed eight boards. The Wizards finished up summer leage with a .500 record of 3-3.
Spurs Stop Wizards
Juan Dixon led all Wizards with 27 points, but it wasn't enough as Washington fell 80-67 to the San Antonio Spurs in summer league action. Forward Bobby Simmons added nine while Andrae Patterson pulled down six boards. The Wizards will finish up summer league tomorrow when they take on LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Offensive Display
The Wizards took an early 13-0 lead against Milwaukee on Friday and never looked back, beating the Bucks 93-70 in summer league action. Washington shot 56 percent from the field with Juan Dixon and Maurice Evans contributing 16 points each. Andrae Patterson added 14 while Etan Thomas dropped in 11. The Wizards will face the Spurs on Saturday at 1:00.
Wizards Beat the Sixers
The Wizards found their rhythm Wednesday as they beat the Sixers 88-74. Forward Bobby Simmons led all scorers with 19 while Kwame Brown scored 15 and grabbed 13 boards. Juan Dixon and Maurice Evans each contributed 14 points. The Wizards will have a well deserved day off tomorrow before taking on Milwaukee on Friday.
Wizards Fall to the Knicks
The Wizards trailed the New York Knicks 31-30 at the half, but the Knicks pulled away in the second-half and beat Washington 70-59 in their second Reebok Summer League game. Jarvis Hayes led all Wizards scorers with 18 while Juan Dixon added 14. The Wizards will face the Sixers in tomorrows contest (2:00 P.M.).
Wizards Drop Summer Opener
The Wizards opened their Summer League 2003 with a 82-50 loss to the Atlanta Hawks. First-round pick Jarvis Hayes and Juan Dixon led all scorers with 13 points while Kwame Brown added 10 points and eight boards. Washington returns to action Tuesday afternoon when they face the Knicks (12 noon).
