GAME NOTES

  • Tonight’s game is the first of two meetings between the Washington Wizards and San Antonio Spurs. The Spurs won last season’s series, 2-0. The two teams will meet again on February 12th at Verizon Center.
  • Last game versus Chicago...The Wizards fell to the Chicago Bulls, 87-80, on December 22nd at Verizon Center...Nick Young scored a team-high 22 points...Kirk Hinrich recorded 19 points, nine assists and five rebounds...Josh Howard scored 13 points in 24:37 minutes of play off of the bench...Rashard Lewis scored eight points in his Wizards debut...Carlos Boozer led the Bulls with 30 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists.
  • Nick Young is averaging 22.2 points per game over his last six games. Young has scored 20 or more points in five straight games, which marks the longest streak of his career.
  • Young joins Boston’s Glen Davis and Los Angeles’ Lamar Odom as the only three players in the NBA who have increased their scoring averaging by at least five points and field goal percentage by at least five percentage points from the 2009-10 season.
  • Kirk Hinrich is averaging 16.7 points, 10.7 assists and 5.7 rebounds in his last three games.
  • Josh Howard is averaging 16.1 points and 6.3 rebounds in 89 career games during the month of December. Howard’s scoring and rebounding averages in the month of December are his highest during any month of the season.
  • The Wizards have tallied 10 or more steals in four straight games. The last time the Wizards accomplished this was March 15-20 of 2009. Washington currently ranks third in the NBA with 9.0 steals per game.
  • Andray Blatche and JaVale McGee have been suspended for tonight's game due to conduct detrimental to the team.
