GAME NOTES
  • This game marks the third of four meetings between the Wizards and Knicks this season. Previously, in a pair of meetings, each team won on their own home court. Having also defeated the Knicks in the second of New York’s two visits to Washington last season, the Wizards will look tonight to extend their home winning streak against New York to three games.
  • Last contest...In a back and forth game that featured 10 ties and nine lead changes, the shorthanded Wizards ultimately fell to the Memphis Grizzlies, 99-94, at Verizon Center on February 24th...Washington was led by Andray Blatche’s team-high 24 points, but despite a doubledouble effort from Al Thornton that featured a game-high 11 rebounds, Memphis came away with the W...Mike Miller and Randy Foye contributed a team-high seven assists respectively... JaVale McGee’s 10 points marked the third Wizards in double figures in scoring... Newcomer James Singleton registered nine points, 10 rebounds and four blocks...New addition Mike Harris made his Wizards debut, but it ultimately wasn’t enough for Washington.
  • With 24 points and eight rebounds in Washington’s last game, Andray Blatche is now averaging 18.6 points and 8.8 rebounds in nine games as a starter this season. In five games since the All-Star break, Blatche is averaging 24.8 points and 9.8 rebounds per game, while shooting .580 from the field.
  • In four games since being acquired by the Wizards from the Clippers, forward Al Thornton is averaging 16.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.5 blocks and 1.0 steal per game, while shooting .542 from the field. Prior to arriving in Washington, Thornton had averaged 10.7 points, 3.8 rebounds, .4 blocks and .5 steals, while shooting .478 from the field this season.
  • In 25 games in Dallas prior to his arrival in Washington, forward James Singleton amassed 59 total points (2.4 ppg), 55 rebounds (2.2 rpg) and seven blocks (0.3) in 211 total minutes (8.4 mpg). Since his acquisition, however, in just five games for the Wizards (3-2), Singleton has registered 37 points (7.4 ppg), 42 rebounds (8.4 rpg) and 10 blocks (2.0 ppg) in 114 total minutes (22.8 mpg)...proving yet again when Jumpin’ James can do with a little opportunity.
