GAME NOTES

  • Tonight’s game is the second and final meeting of the season between the Washington Wizards and Phoenix Suns. The Suns won the first meeting, 125-108, on December 5th in Phoenix.
  • Tonight’s contest is the first of a home back-to-back set for the Wizards. Washington will take on the Boston Celtics tomorrow night. The last time the Wizards played back-to-back home games was November 11th and 12th of 2005. The Wizards defeated the Seattle SuperSonics, 137-96, on the 11th and also won the next night, 110-95, over the San Antonio Spurs.
  • John Wall leads all Eastern Conference rookies in the month of January in scoring (13.8 ppg), assists (11.1 apg) and in doubledoubles with six. Wall has had at least nine or more assists in each game during the month of January (nine games). Wall is also the only Eastern Conference rookie currently averaging a double-double in the month of January.
  • Wall is the first rookie in NBA history to have nine or more assists in nine straight games.
  • Wall’s 259 assists through the first 28 games of his career represents the second most assists in NBA history to begin a career behind Mark Jackson (264 in 1987-88).
  • Wall is the first Wizard to have 13 or more assists in consecutive games since Rod Strickland did it on February 24th and 26th of 1998.
  • JaVale McGee became the first player in the NBA this season to reach 100 blocks in Washington’s last game in Milwaukee (1/19). With 102 blocks on the season, McGee surpassed his previous career-high total of 101 blocks during the 2009-10 season.
  • Nick Young is averaging 26.6 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.0 assists in his last five games. Young is averaging 20.9 points and 3.4 rebounds in 16 starts this season.
  • Andray Blatche is averaging 19.3 points, 11.0 rebounds, 3.0 steals in his last four games.
