GAME NOTES

  • Tonight’s game is the first of three meetings between the Wizards and Bucks. The two teams split last season’s series, 2-2. The Wizards and Bucks will meet again on February 9th and March 8th in Washington.
  • John Wall leads all Eastern Conference rookies in the month of January in scoring (14.2 ppg), assists (10.9 apg) and in double-doubles with five. Wall has had at least nine or more assists in each game during the month of January (eight games). Wall is also the only Eastern Conference rookie currently averaging a double-double in the month of January.
  • Wall is the first rookie since Damon Stoudamire (1995-96) to have nine or more assists in eight straight games.
  • Wall’s 246 assists through the first 27 games of his career represents the third most assists in NBA history to begin a career behind Mark Jackson (251) and Jamaal Tinsley (249).
  • With one block in tonight’s game, JaVale McGee will reach 100 blocks in his first 39 games of the season. The last Washington player to reach 100 blocks in 39 games or less was Pervis Ellison (36 games) who accomplished this during the 1991-92 season. McGee currently leads the NBA in total blocks with 99.
  • Nick Young is averaging 28.0 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists in his last four games.
  • Young is averaging 19.8 points in the second half in his last four games.
  • Andray Blatche is averaging 18.0 points and 12.3 rebounds in his last three games. Blatche has posted three straight double-doubles for the second time in his career. Blatche had three straight double-doubles from February 6-10 in 2008.
  • The Wizards have three players with 10 or more double-doubles this season (Andray Blatche, JaVale McGee and John Wall). Washington joins the Chicago Bulls (Carlos Boozer, Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah) as the only teams in the NBA to have three players with 10 or more double-doubles so far this season.
