Wizards Announce 2009 Preseason Schedule

The Washington Wizards announced their eight-game 2009 preseason schedule today, highlighted by the team’s first-ever preseason game at the Siegel Center in Richmond, VA, on the campus of Virginia Commonwealth University. Washington will host Rudy Gay, OJ Mayo and the Memphis Grizzlies in Richmond on Oct. 6 at 7:00 p.m. before returning to DC to play Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks on Oct. 9 at 7:00 p.m. in their lone preseason game at Verizon Center.

“We’re eager to get the 2009-10 season underway and for our fans to have the chance to get their first look at this new era of Wizards basketball during our preseason games in Richmond and Verizon Center,” said Wizards President Ernie Grunfeld. “We’ve enjoyed the first-class facilities and hospitality at the Siegel Center during our last five training camps, so we’re very excited to officially begin the preseason there this year.”

In addition, Washington will travel to play Toronto (Oct. 11), Detroit (in Grand Rapids, MI, on Oct. 13), Cleveland (Oct. 14), Atlanta (Oct. 19), Philadelphia (Oct. 20) and Chicago (Oct. 23) in preseason action.
