Wizards Partner with 'Neediest Kids'
The Washington Wizards and Neediest Kids will partner to host ‘Neediest Kids Night’ during the Wizards vs. Los Angeles Lakers game on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at 7:00 pm. As part of a season-long campaign to ‘Get in the Game for Neediest Kids,’ the night will feature an online auction to help support area students in need, with a variety of exclusive Wizards behind-the-scenes-access packages.
“We’re excited to partner with Neediest Kids this season,” said Wizards Senior Vice President and Chief Sales Officer Mark Schiponi. “This partnership allows ‘Neediest Kids’ to offer a unique Wizards experience to their supporters, and gives their organization the recognition and donations they need to sustain their important program to help students in our area.”
During half-time, a Neediest Kids PSA will air, featuring Wizards swingman Mike Miller inviting fans to make a difference in the lives of area K-12 students. Fans can help by texting by texting ‘NEED’ to 90999 to give a $5 donation.
“Partnering with the Wizards is a great opportunity to raise awareness about ‘Neediest Kids’ throughout the community,” said Neediest Kids President Jane Cohen. “Neediest Kids night is a very special way for fans to help area students get the basics to attend class and be ready to learn.”
Neediest Kids, a local non-profit organization founded in 1972, works with schools and school professionals in the Washington area to help students in need of basic necessities.
