April 6th Game Recap: Wizards vs. Nets

Nets Take Down Wizards

The Nets got off to a strong start and never looked back as they took down the Wizards 110-98 on Friday night in New Jersey. The Wizards hung around for a good portion of the night, but never could make the big run needed to truly make this a game.

Kevin Seraphin has been a model of consistency over the past two weeks and once again had a fine night, dropping in 15 points to go along with his nine boards. He has scored in double figures in eight of the past nine games.

John Wall led the Wizards in scoring, ending the night with 18 points, six rebounds, and four assists.

Shelvin Mack had one of his best games of the season, scoring 10 points and dishing out a career-high eight assists.

Newly acquired James Singleton did a nice job off the bench, putting in 12 points and grabbing nine boards. Roger Mason Jr. had 15 off the bench.

Next, the Wizards head to Charlotte to take on the Bobcats on Monday night.

(On the game)

“We tried to play with a lot of energy, but they just came out and basically got whatever they wanted, getting into the paint, making shots and executing down the stretch, really executing throughout the whole game. We were taking some bad shots and we missed a couple of easy shots and made some turnovers that turned into fast break opportunities so that kind of hurt us and usually when we get down in the first half, we fight back but tonight we didn’t have enough energy to come back. A lot of guys were fatigued, but that’s no excuse.”

(On it being tough to come back when fatigued)

“It’s not too bad. You can still make a run, but you have to put so much energy into it. We started to make a little run, but they just kept making shots, and when you’re putting so much energy into it while the other team is still making shots, it’s kind of like it’s just one of those nights. You have to let it go.”

(On how he feels in the past few games)

“I feel good in all the games; it was just teams were doing a better job on me. I was taking some bad shots at times and I was missing easier shots. Today I got to the line, had a couple easy baskets in the beginning, and when you see the ball go in early, it kind of helps you get in a rhythm.”

(On the mindset with 10 games left)

“Try to win them all. I mean that’s going to be tough to do, but you want to win games. We are just happy with the team we have. We’re playing like more of a team; we’re playing hard with this group of guys. We got some guys hurt, but that’s what happens. Nobody is complaining about it. You just have to move forward and keep playing basketball.”

(On the Game)

“They came out pretty slow offensively we couldn’t make anything early. I think it just effected. We were down 13. We fought at the end. The last three quarters from a standpoint of scoring we just dug ourselves in a hole like we did last night and we let them do whatever they wanted so we got what we deserved. We brought Cartier in on a 10-day. We have to look at guys. Somebody’s not going to play. Roger is going to play, giving us good minutes off the bench. I want to look at Cartier that’s why we signed him to a 10-day, because I want to take a look at him. Somebody is not going to play. I thought James (Singleton) had no idea what we were doing last night. He picks things up very quickly so he is much better and more comfortable tonight, but even last night I thought he played hard and did some things, but I think he took it to another level tonight. The more he gets familiar with what we’re doing and those things come back I think he can give us some good minutes with Nene and Trevor Booker.”
