Wizards Go Down in Atlanta
A strong start had the Wizards ahead by four at the half (54-50), but the second half was not as kind and the Hawks were able to take down the Wizards, 102-88, on Friday night at Phillips Arena.
John Wall had his jump shot working early and had an impressive first half (10 points, 7 assists, 5 rebounds), but the Hawks made adjustments at halftime and started to trap Wall to force the ball out of his hands. This frustrated the Wizards point guard and had the Wizards offense out of sync for much of the second half. Wall finished with 14 points, 7 rebounds, and a team-high 9 assists.
This was the Wizards fourth game in five nights, and their second back-to-back stretch on this trip, but the players did not want to use that as an excuse.
"I don't think that had anything to do with it, we had great energy and effort, we just did not play together in the 2nd half" said veteran guard Maurice Evans.
Trevor Booker led the team in points and rebounds, with 18 and 9 respectively.
Next, the Wizards travel to Memphis where they will take on the Grizzlies on Sunday night.

“We were two totally different teams in each half. In the second hal,f we over dribbled the ball. You can’t be one team one half and then different in the second. We threw the ball all over the place before we even looked to pass. We all took turns dribbling the ball in the second half. I can’t say the Hawks beat us because we played poor defensively. It was strictly a loss by how we came out and played offensively in the second half. You never feel good about a loss, but felt good about how we played in the first half. I didn’t like how we played in the second half.”
