GAME NOTES

  • Tonight’s game is the second of four meetings between the Washington Wizards and Toronto Raptors this season. The two teams will meet again on February 6th at Verizon Center and April 1st at Air Canada Centre.
  • Last time versus Toronto...The Wizards defeated the Toronto Raptors, 93-78, on January 10th at Verizon Center... The Wizards had a balanced attack that featured four players score in double figures...Nick Young and Rashard Lewis each scored 15 points...Jordan Crawford scored 11 points in 18:47 minutes of play off of the bench...JaVale McGee scored 10 points, grabbed six rebounds and blocks three shots...John Wall scored eight points and had nine assists…Chris Singleton scored nine points and grabbed a career-high nine rebounds...Trevor Booker scored eight points and grabbed seven rebounds in his first start of the season...The Wizards had 12 steals led by rookie Jan Vesely who had five…Andrea Bargnani led the Raptors with 22 points.
  • With 14 points, Rashard Lewis will reach the 15,000 career point plateau. Lewis will join Paul Pierce and Jason Kidd as the only players in NBA history who have scored at least 15,000 points, grabbed 5,000 rebounds and hit 1,500 three-pointers in their careers.
  • With 20 points in the 4th quarter at Orlando (2/1), Nick Young became the first Wizard to score 20 points in a quarter since Caron Butler. Butler scored 21 points in the 3rd quarter at Orlando on January 6, 2009. Young became the first Wizard to score 20 points in a fourth quarter since Larry Hughes scored 21 points in the 4th quarter at Toronto on November 28, 2004.
  • Young became the first Washington player to score 24 points in 21 minutes or less since Don MacLean scored 24 points in 20 minutes at Boston on November 25, 1992.
  • Young is 7-of-12 (.583) from three-point range in his last three games.
  • Trevor Booker is averaging 12.0 points and 7.0 rebounds, while shooting .850 percent from the field in his last three games.
  • Key Matchup: Nick Young vs. DeMar DeRozan - Nick Young scored 20 of his 24 points in the 4th quarter on Wednesday night against Orlando and will be looking to pick up where he left off tonight against another former USC Trojan; DeMar DeRozan. One of the leagues' most up and coming 2 guards, DeRozan made a big leap last season when he averaged 17.2 ppg. Young is the better perimeter shooter of the two, but DeRozan, a former slam dunk contest participant, can leap with the best of them and is a strong finisher around the rim. These two guards had very similar seasons a year ago (Young - 17.4 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 1.2 apg...DeRozan - 17.2 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 1.8 apg) and their battle tonight will be key to the outcome of the game.
  • Tonight's game can be seen on Comcast SportsNet or heard on WJFK The Fan 106.7 at 7:00pm.
