GAME NOTES

  • Tonight’s game is the first of three meetings between the Washington Wizards and Detroit Pistons. The two teams will meet again on March 26th in Washington and April 5th in Detroit. Detroit won last season’s series, 2-1.
  • Last game versus Miami...The Wizards were defeated by the Miami Heat, 106-89, on February 10th at Verizon Center...JaVale McGee led the Wizards with 24 points and 13 rebounds...Nick Young scored 22 points...Trevor Booker scored 13 points and had career-highs in rebounds (15) and steals (4)...John Wall scored 15 points and had 10 assists...Dwyane Wade led the Heat with 26 points.
  • With four points tonight, Rashard Lewis will reach the 15,000 career point plateau. Lewis will join Paul Pierce and Jason Kidd as the only players in NBA history who have scored at least 15,000 points, grabbed 5,000 rebounds and hit 1,500 three-pointers in their careers.
  • John Wall is averaging 20.8 points and 6.8 assists in his last five games. Wall is shooting .535 percent (38-of-71) from the field in his last five games.
  • Wall averaged 25.0 points, 9.5 assists and 5.5 rebounds in two games versus Detroit last season.
  • Trevor Booker is averaging 13.2 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1.6 steals and 1.4 blocks in his last five games. Booker is shooting .580 percent from the field during this stretch.
  • In Washington’s last game versus Miami (2/10), the Wizards had three players record doubledoubles (JaVale McGee-24 points, 13 rebounds, Trevor Booker-13 points, 15 rebounds, John Wall 15 points, 10 assists). The last time the Wizards had three players record a double-double was March 27, 2011 at Golden State. John Wall, Yi Jianlian and JaVale McGee each had a doubledouble for the Wizards.
  • Key Matchups
  • JaVale McGee vs. Greg Monroe -JaVale McGee is coming off a season-high 24 points on Friday night and will look to give the Wizards more of that offensive production tonight when he goes up against another one of the league's top young centers; Greg Monroe. Monroe is averaging a double-double this year and has emerged as the Pistons go-to guy in the post.
  • John Wall vs. Brandon Knight- An interesting match-up tonight at the point-guard spot as John Wall will go up against his successor at Kentucky, Brandon Knight. Both guys played one season as the point-guard at Kentucky and both were lottery picks in their respective drafts. Wall will hope that his one extra year of experience will be an advantage tonight and lead his Wizards past Knight's Pistons.
  • Tonight's game can be seen on Comcast SportsNet and heard on WJFK The Fan 106.7 at 6:00pm.
