GAME NOTES

  • Tonight’s game is the second of four meetings between the Washington Wizards and Orlando Magic this season. The two teams will meet again on February 29th and April 10th at Verizon Center.
  • Last game versus Chicago…The Wizards fell to the Chicago Bulls, 98-88, on January 30th at Verizon Center...John Wall led the Wizards with 20 points and six assists...Nick Young scored 17 points and grabbed five rebounds...JaVale McGee tallied 16 points, nine rebounds and three blocks...Trevor Booker added 14 points on 7-of-9 from the field.
  • Last time versus Orlando...The Wizards were defeated by the Orlando Magic, 103-85, on January 4th at Amway Center in Orlando...Nick Young led the Wizards with 17 points (15 points in the 2nd half)...John Wall had 14 points, five assists and four rebounds...Andray Blatche scored 10 points and grabbed six rebounds...Dwight Howard led the Magic with 28 points and 20 rebounds.
  • JaVale McGee is averaging 15.7 points, 10.0 rebounds and 4.0 blocks in his last three games.
  • McGee currently owns the longest streak in the NBA in consecutive games with a least one block at 18. The last Wizards player to block at least one shot in 18 straight games was McGee who blocked a shot in 20 consecutive games from January 1-February 13 of 2011.
  • Key Matchup: JaVale McGee vs. Dwight Howard - Two of the better shot blockers in the league will go head-to-head tonight in Orlando as JaVale McGee (3.14 bpg) and Dwight Howard (2.05 bpg) square off against one another. McGee has gotten hot again for the Wizards over the previous two games (19.0 ppg, 9.5 rpg, 4.0 bpg), but his main objective in tonight's game will be limiting the effectiveness of Dwight Howard. If he and the rest of the Wizards big men can contain Howard and limit his dunks, the Wizards could pick up their second consecutive road win and knock off the struggling Magic.
  • Tonight's game can be seen on Comcast SportsNet or heard on WJFK The Fan 106.7 at 7:00pm.
