GAME NOTES

  • Tonight’s game is the first of two meetings between the Washington Wizards and Los Angeles Clippers this season. The two teams will meet again on February 15th at Staples Center in LA.
  • Last time out for Wizards...The Wizards fell to the Toronto Raptors, 106-89, last night at Air Canada Centre... Nick Young led the team with 21 points and had four rebounds....John Wall had 15 points, five rebounds and four assists...Trevor Booker had 13 points and seven rebounds off the bench...Leandro Barbosa led the Raptors with 19 points...
  • With 6 points, Rashard Lewis will reach the 15,000 career point plateau. Lewis will join Paul Pierce and Jason Kidd as the only players in NBA history who have scored at least 15,000 points, grabbed 5,000 rebounds and hit 1,500 three-pointers in their careers.
  • Young is 9-of-14 (.643) from three-point range in his last three games.
  • Trevor Booker is averaging 11.7 points and 8.3 rebounds in his last three games.
  • Key Matchups:
John Wall vs. Chris Paul - John Wall will have his work cut out for him tonight when he takes on arguably the game's top point guard, Chris Paul. Wall will need to use his height advantage to try and exploit the smaller Paul and his ability to secure the ball will be critical as Paul is second in the league in steals. These are two of the more exciting players to watch in the league and seeing them go head-to-head will be a treat for fans tonight.
  • Jan Vesely/Trevor Booker vs. Blake Griffin - The Vesely/Booker combination will be a focal point tonight as they have the task of stopping Blake Griffin. The Wizards could actually open up throwing Rashard Lewis on Griffin and putting Vesely on Butler, but whatever they do, stopping Griffin will be key to the Wizards success. Booker may be the best option as he is the most physical player the Wizards possess and Book has been playing well as of late. He is averaging 11.7ppg and 8.3 rpg over the past three games and has been a real spark off the bench. Tonight, he will be relied upon heavily to limit Griffin and keep him away from the rim to prevent his thunderous dunks.
  • Tonight's game can be seen on Comcast SportsNet or heard on WJFK The Fan 106.7 at 7:00pm.
