GAME NOTES

  • Today’s game is the third of four meetings between the Washington Wizards and Boston Celtics. The Celtics are currently leading the season series, 2-0. The two teams will meet again on March 25th in Boston.
  • Last game versus Denver...The Wizards were defeated by the Denver Nuggets, 108-104, on January 20th at Verizon Center...Nick Young scored 25 points to lead the Wizards...John Wall tallied 13 points, a season-high 10 assists and a season-high tying nine rebounds...Jordan Crawford scored 18 points on 6 -of-14 from the field in 24:45 minutes of play off of the bench...JaVale McGee scored 13 points, grabbed seven rebounds and blocked three shots...Chris Singleton scored a season-high tying 12 points...Al Harrington led the Nuggets with 29 points.
  • Wall is averaging 23.8 points, 8.8 assists and 7.8 rebounds per in his last four games.
  • Nick Young is 9-of-20 (.450) from three-point range in his last two games.
  • Jordan Crawford is averaging 17.7 points, 4.7 rebounds in his last four games.
  • The Wizards lead the NBA in blocks per game at 7.7 bpg.
  • Key Matchup: John Wall vs. Rajon Rondo - These two speedy point guards both played their college ball at the University of Kentucky and are now running the offense for their respective NBA teams. They very well could be the two fastest players in the league and we will be able to see that speed in today's matchup. John Wall has really found his groove over the past four games (23.8 points, 8.8 assists and 7.8 rebounds), and he will need to continue that play against a tough defensive opponent like the Celtics. The last time the Celtics came to DC, Rondo recorded a triple-double, but he will be a gametime decision today due to a sprained right wrist he suffered on Wednesday. He missed Friday night's game vs. Phoenix, but is with the team for today's game and could return to action. If he does go, the Wizards will need to do their best to contain him and force him to rely on his outside shot.
  • Today's game can be seen on Comcast SportsNet or heard on WJFK The Fan 106.7 at 1:00pm.
