GAME NOTES

  • Tonight’s game is the first of three meetings between the Wizards and Bulls.
  • Last game versus Toronto...The Wizards defeated the Toronto Raptors, 93-78, last night at Verizon Center... The Wizards had a balanced attack that featured four players score in double figures...Nick Young and Rashard Lewis each scored 15 points...Jordan Crawford scored 11 points in 18:47 minutes of play off of the bench...JaVale McGee scored 10 points, grabbed six rebounds and blocks three shots...John Wall scored eight points and had a season-high tying nine assists…Chris Singleton scored nine points and grabbed a career-high nine rebounds...Trevor Booker scored eight points and grabbed seven rebounds in his first start of the season...The Wizards had a season-high 12 steals led by rookie Jan Vesely who had five…Andrea Bargnani led the Raptors with 22 points.
  • JaVale McGee is four blocks shy of 400 for his career.
  • McGee has blocked three or more shots in six consecutive games for the second time in his career. McGee blocked three or more shots in six consecutive games last season from March 28-April 5, 2011. The fourth year center has never blocked three or more shots in seven consecutive games.
  • McGee recorded his first career triple-double with 11 points, 12 rebounds and 12 blocks versus the Bulls at the United Center last season (3/15/11). In that contest, McGee’s 12 blocks were the most by any player since Keon Clark blocked 12 shots for the Raptors versus Atlanta (3/23/01). McGee also became the first player to record a triple-double with at least 12 blocks since Shawn Bradley had 22 points, 22 rebounds and 13 blocks for the Dallas Mavericks versus Portland on April 7, 1998.
  • Nick Young averaged 15.7 points and 3.7 rebounds versus Chicago last season.
  • The Wizards currently rank 1st in the NBA in blocks per game at 7.9 bpg.
  • John Wall ranks second behind Miami’s Dwyane Wade among all NBA guards in blocks per game. Wall is averaging 1.22 blocks per game this season.
  • Key Matchup: John Wall vs. Derrick Rose - Another star-studded matchup at the point guard spot tonight as John Wall goes head-to-head with the reigning league MVP. A lot of experts have drawn many comparisons between these two point guards and think Wall will grow into what Derrick Rose has become. They are two of the fastest and most explosive point guards in the game today and watching them go at it later tonight will certainly be worth the price of admission.
  • Tonight's game can be seen on Comcast SportsNet or heard on WJFK The Fan 106.7 at 8:00pm.
