DC Department of Health Partners with Wizards and Verizon Center to Offer Free H1N1 Vaccination Clinic on January 26

The DC Department of Health (DOH) announced a partnership with the Washington Wizards and Verizon Center in an effort to encourage more people to get the H1N1 vaccine. The partnership will allow those in the DC metropolitan area, along with patrons attending the Washington Wizards vs. Los Angeles Lakers game on Tuesday, January 26, the opportunity to get vaccinated for free. The free clinic will take place at Verizon Center from 12noon to 4:00 p.m. in the Dewar’s Club located on F Street NW.

“We want to continue the Pollin legacy in offering services to the local community and our patrons,” said Wizards and Verizon Center President of Business Operations Peter Biché. “So partnering with the Department of Health on providing this free vaccination clinic is the perfect opportunity to express our continued support.”

The H1N1 vaccination clinic is open to the general public. Ticketed patrons attending the Washington Wizards game against the Los Angeles Lakers that evening can receive the vaccine before the game between the hours of 12noon and 4:00 p.m. or during the game up through halftime in the Dewar’s Club, or at the First Aid station located on the 400 level.

“The Department of Health is excited to partner with the Wizards and Verizon Center as part of our effort to provide the H1N1 vaccine to as many residents as possible,” said DOH Director Dr. Pierre Vigilance. “Sporting events are great venues to spread positive health messages for the whole family, so this opportunity for more people to get protected is appreciated, and especially important at this point in the flu season.”
