It has been a decade since Antonio Daniels was on the campus of Bowling Green University (1994-97). Back then, Daniels was a star point guard who led the Falcons team to the MAC regular-season championship in his senior year under then-Head Coach Jim Larranaga.

As a senior, Daniels was named the MAC Player of the Year and later that summer in 1997 was a first round draft pick (fourth overall) of the then-Vancouver Grizzlies. Now entering his third season with the Washington Wizards and his 11th overall NBA campaign, Daniels returns back to campus for an exciting homecoming in which he will be one of seven new members inducted into the Bowling Green State University Athletic Hall of Fame this weekend.

“Any time you are recognized for a significant honor, it is a great feeling,” Daniels said in a phone interview on Thursday afternoon with WashingtonWizards.com. “I had the opportunity to play with some great teammates and learn from some great coaches. When Coach Larranaga recruited me, he told me that I would have the chance to be one of the greatest players to play here at this school, and to be inducted and to come full circle is a great honor.”

Daniels, and his fellow Class of 2007, will participate in an official induction ceremony on Friday evening and then will be introduced on Saturday afternoon at the Bowling Green State University-Temple football game at Doyt Perry Stadium. Daniels will be joined at this weekend ceremonies by his wife, Sonia, mother Alice and sister Neta.

However, before the celebration starts, Daniels plans to visit and workout with the current Falcons basketball team members on Friday morning.

“I am looking forward to it, and it should be a lot of fun to see the guys, meet with them and just get the chance to talk with them before the start of the season,” Daniels said.

Daniels said he is excited for the start of the upcoming Wizards season and will return to Washington, DC early next week. The Wizards tip off their week-long training camp on Tuesday, October 2 on the campus of Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia.
