Wizards Sign Massenburg, Gordon and Deane; Training Camp Roster Includes 18 Players

Washington Wizards President Ernie Grunfeld announced today that the team has signed forward Tony Massenburg and guards Jamon Gordon and Willie Deane. Per team policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.

Massenburg joins the team as a 13-year NBA veteran. Drafted 43rd overall in the 1990 NBA Draft by the San Antonio Spurs, Massenburg averaged a career-high 11.2 points per game with Vancouver during the 1998-1999 season. He won an NBA championship as a member of the 2004-2005 San Antonio Spurs. Massenburg played collegiately at the University of Maryland.

Gordon enters the league as an undrafted rookie. He participated in the 2007 NBA Summer League as a member of the Dallas Mavericks and averaged 2.0 points and 1.2 rebounds in four games. Gordon played collegiately at Virginia Tech and earned Third Team All-ACC honors as a senior. He averaged 11.4 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 2.8 steals per game last season.

Deane enters the league as an undrafted free agent. In 2003, Deane played with the Detroit Pistons in the Orlando Summer League. As a senior at Purdue University, Deane averaged 17.8 points per game and was named First Team All-Big Ten by both the coaches and the media.

The Wizards roster now stands at 18.
