Rookies, Hives and One-on-One

Quote of the Day: “I’m breaking out in hives.” - Nick Young. Upon walking onto the campus of UCLA, where the Wizards had practice on Monday, Nick Young joked that he was breaking out in hives. Young played collegiately at USC.

Can You Help Me With These?: John Wall, Kevin Seraphin, Trevor Booker and Hamady Ndiaye were given some duties after walking off of the team bus. The rookies were assigned to carry the team bags from the bus to the practice court.

Holding Court: While many of their teammates were packing up after practice or shooting free throws, Seraphin and Ndiaye played a game of full court one-on-one. Ndiaye said the two players don’t get as many reps in practice and the purpose of the game was to help with conditioning.

A Few More Weeks: Following the game of one-on-one, Josh Howard and Hilton Armstrong joined Seraphin and Ndiaye for a game of two-on-two. Flip Saunders was asked after practice about Howard and he said he was still a few weeks away from returning.

This Place Look Familiar: On his way back to the bus after practice, Alonzo Gee pointed out some landmarks of the UCLA campus. Gee was recruited by UCLA before committing to Alabama.

I'm Phamished: With the team bus leaving around 11:30 and not heading back to the hotel until 2:30pm, some of the players were extremely hungry after practice. JaVale McGee decided to stop by a food truck named “Phamished” on his way back to the bus. The truck was parked next to the team bus and McGee got a chicken lemongrass sandwich and an Orange Crush.
