Training Camp Breakdown: Day 4
By Brian James, Wizards Assistant Coach
October 5, 2002

Coach James

Today might have been our best practice of training camp. When you add the practice this morning and the scrimmage tonight, we are becoming very competitive with our effort and rebounding has become a priority for us. Guys made a conscience effort today to block out and be aggressive going to the rim on rebounds.

Doug was extremely proud and told the team that this morning's practice was the best practice that we have had since he has taken over the head coaching job for the Wizards. Everybody on our team likes to hear things that are positive, and in terms of what our team has accomplished, we are very proud of them.

Were getting a lot of our defensive principles in, we are expanding our offense and obviously our effort is ahead of our execution right now but yet we can see that there is a light in the tunnel.

We like our team, but we really need to shore up our front line. Our big guys have to just make a great effort defensively and rebounding wise because our perimeter is so competitive in terms of the defensive effort that they are giving. If we can make some adjustments I think we will be fine.
