Juan's Training Camp Diary: Day 4
By Juan Dixon, Wizards Guard

If there is one good think about training camp, it's that for the first time ever I am getting my breakfast in. I'm getting up every morning and getting a nice breakfast with waffles, a nice steak, sausage, so I'm actually eating really well, gaining some weight and getting the energy I need to make it through the morning practices.

Once I get to the gym in the morning, it's basically a mental practice for me. I just try and learn all the offensive and defensive sets, try to learn all the terminology both offensively and defensively and just go out there and try to perform as well as possible. I want to play some minutes this year and I think that I can help contribute to this team.

I was pretty sore during the Thursday night scrimmage so I wasn’t really out there playing my type of game which is flying out there, trying to cause havoc on the defensive end and attacking on the offensive end. I think I lacked that yesterday and I think that I have lacked that since we started training camp.

Today my legs felt great. I'm getting my legs back. All the soreness and tightness is out and I'm out there having fun. I'm once again enjoying the game like I'm supposed to and I think I played well tonight. I missed a couple of easy shots, shots I normally make, so its only a matter of time before I really start to play the type of basketball I want to play because I think that I made a huge jump from the previous days.

Tonight was a great night for me, and I'm sure I'll keep it up.
