2012-13 Schedule Notes

WashingtonWizards.com's staff broke down the 2012-13 Wizards schedule...

5 Games You Can’t Miss at Verizon Center:

Dec 4: Miami at Washington
The defending NBA Champions make their way to Verizon Center twice during the 2012-13 season with the first meeting falling on December 4th. Last season, the Wizards went 2-1 against the Heat with both wins coming in the final few weeks of the season. The Verizon Center should be rocking on this Tuesday night in December as John Wall and the Wizards look to take down the defending champs!

Dec 14: Los Angeles Lakers at Washington
Just 10 days after the glitz and glamor from Miami leave DC, the Lakers come to town with a new point guard running their show. Former MVP winner Steve Nash has changed colors and he, Kobe, Bynum, and Gasol will make their way to a packed Verizon Center on this Friday night in December.

Jan 7: Oklahoma City at Washington
Last season, the Wizards knocked off the Western Conference champs in a thriller at Verizon Center and the first rematch will come on Monday, January 7th in Washington. This up and down game should feature plenty of scoring with two of the more explosive point guards in the league (Wall & Westbrook) squaring off against one another!

Feb 4: Los Angeles Clippers at Washington
This used to be the 'other' team from L.A., but now stocked with stars of their own, the Clippers are one of the hottest tickets in town. Watching John Wall go toe-to-toe with Chris Paul and seeing Nene bang down low with Blake Griffin should be well worth the price of admission!

Feb 6: New York at Washington
Anytime the Knicks come to town there is always a certain buzz in the arena and this Wednesday night in February should be no exception. With Ariza, Singleton, Nene & Okafor on the front line, the Wizards are well equipped with defenders for Carmelo and Amar'e, which should make this bout a must watch!

Season Opener:

Oct 30: Washington at Cleveland
The Wizards open the 2012-13 season on the road in Cleveland and with both teams featuring young and exciting backcourts, this should be a great way to kick off the year. The Wizards trio of Wall, Crawford, and Beal going up against Irving & Waiters will certainly be the match-ups to watch on Opening Night!

Home Opener:

Nov 3: Boston at Washington
The Wizards home opener comes against a team who has been near the top of the Eastern Conference for the past five seasons in the Boston Celtics. The Wizards have played the Celtics tough throughout their run and with the game falling on Opening Night at Verizon Center, this clash should be one of the better games of the season!

Happy New Years!:

Jan 1: Dallas at Washington
The Wizards will bring in the New Year with a game against Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks. What better way to celebrate 2013 then coming out to Verizon Center for what is sure to be an exciting game between two up-tempo teams.

Friday Night Lights:

The Wizards will play at home ten times on Friday night. The Verizon Center will be rocking with some of the biggest names in the game taking the stage underneath the Friday Night Lights!
